Are you curious about art therapy or looking for a space to connect with others while exploring your creativity? Starting January 7th 2025, I'm excited to offer a virtual art therapy group for individuals 18+ in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This group will meet virtually on Tuesdays from 12-1 PM and is designed for those navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, or simply wanting to experience the benefits of art therapy in a supportive environment.

What Is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy led by a board-certified art therapist, and in states that offer licensure, by a licensed art therapist. It is rooted in the belief that creative expression can foster healing and mental well-being. By engaging in art-making, individuals can explore emotions, develop self- awareness, and build resilience. Art can serve as a bridge to access the unconscious mind, helping to process complex emotions and address challenges that may feel difficult to explore in traditional talk therapy. The best part? You don’t need any prior art experience to participate. It’s not about creating a masterpiece—it’s about using art as a tool to express yourself and grow. In our group, sessions will

include both directive-based exercises (where I’ll guide you through a specific prompt) and open studio time (where you’re free to explore your own ideas).

What Can You Expect in Group Therapy?

Group therapy can feel intimidating at first, but it’s one of the most rewarding ways to connect with others. Groups are usually structured to create a safe, welcoming environment where everyone can share as much or as little as they’re comfortable with. Through the group, you’ll discover you’re not alone in your struggles and can gain valuable insights from hearing others’ perspectives. It’s also a great way to dip your toes into therapy if you’re new to the process.

Why Join an Art Therapy Group?

Art therapy in a group setting combines the benefits of creative expression with the power of connection.

You’ll have the chance to explore different art materials to see what resonates with you, all while building a sense of community. Whether you’re seeking to process emotions, reduce stress, or just spend an hour focusing on yourself each week, this group offers a space to do that—no judgment, just support.

What Do You Need to Participate?

While no prior art experience is required, it’s helpful to have some basic materials on hand—think markers, pencils, paints, or even items like magazines for collaging. Having a few options allows you to explore what you enjoy working with most. Don’t worry if you’re not sure what to get; we can talk about materials in our first session and keep it simple.

If this sounds like the kind of space you’ve been looking for, I’d love for you to join us! Feel free to reach out if you have questions or want to sign up. Let’s start 2025 by fostering connection, creativity, and self- care together.
