Dr. Ashenfelter has thirteen years of experience working in public and alternative school settings as a regular and special educator prior to obtaining formal training as a school psychologist. In this capacity, she employed various research-based interventions related to math, reading, writing and behavior while teaching students with learning disabilities, autism, and emotional and behavioral disorders. Dr. Ashenfelter’s past navigation of school-based processes, her work with school-based team members and her firsthand experience employing interventions with students provides her with a unique vantage point as an evaluator who can not only recommend appropriate interventions for students, but who can also anticipate common pitfalls and roadblocks to successful interventions. It assists her in comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations and the ability to select and describe recommendations that guardians at home and schools can understand and utilize to help students meet with success.
